Aviation sci-fi park Nantianmen to open in 2027

A theme park based on Chinese aviation science fiction is scheduled to open on August 1, 2027, in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area, according to its operator.

The 40,000-square-meter Nantianmen Project is built around the eponymous intellectual property launched in 2017 by AVIC Global Cultural Communication (Beijing) Co Ltd, a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corp of China Ltd. The franchise has already spawned hundreds of thousands of words of lore and over a hundred weapon designs.

"Major construction will be finished by year-end, allowing for internal testing. The public opening is fixed for August 1, 2027," Zhou Yixiao, general manager of the Nantianmen Project's Shanghai base, said in a local media interview.

Ding Li, editor-in-chief of AVIC Global Cultural Technology, described the AI-integrated park as a fusion of military-industrial technology and creative imagination.

"It is a bold vision for aviation's future that will also promote our aviation culture and serve as a public science education platform," Ding said.

Set on the far side of the moon, the 80,000-square-meter park will immerse visitors as recruits in a deep space defense force. Guided by instructors, they will experience simulated defense and attack battles for a lunar base. (Source: China daily)
