Dehua's timeless white porcelain tours Italy

Milky white ceramics produced in Dehua county, Fujian province, from the 10th century, were given the name Blanc de Chine (white from China) by European traders and collectors who were mesmerized by the porcelain's creamy whiteness, understated sheen and timeless grace.

More than 100 Dehua white porcelains are now touring Italian cities to bring Eastern aesthetics closer to a European audience. Organized by the Dehua county administration, the first show of the tour, The Way of White Porcelain — From Dehua to Gubbio, has just ended at the Gubbio Museum.

The tour has been an initiative of the Dehua government to bring the beauty of Blanc de Chine back to European people, promoting cultural exchanges and industrial cooperation. (Source: China daily)
