Opening Ceremony for the 14th CIPF & Awarding Ceremony for the 25th WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention & Industrial Design Held in Dalian

On October 13, the 14th China International Patent Fair (CIPF) opened in Dalian under the theme "Patent Commercialization and Utilization Empower Innovative Development." Gold medals for the 25th WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention & Industrial Design were presented during the opening ceremony. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA); Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO); and Wang Libo, Vice Governor of Liaoning Province, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. António Campinos, President of the European Patent Office (EPO), addressed the ceremony via video link. Also in attendance were Xiong Maoping, Deputy Secretary of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Dalian Municipal Party Committee, and Wang Binying, Deputy Director General of WIPO. CNIPA Deputy Commissioner Lu Pengqi announced the award decisions, while Chen Shaowang, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Dalian, presided over the ceremony.

At the ceremony, attending leaders presented awards to representatives of the winners of the WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention & Industrial Design. Peng Shou, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chief scientist of the China National Building Material Group, and Chen Yimin, Vice President of Geely Holding Group, delivered speeches on behalf of the gold medal winners of the WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention. The leaders then jointly inaugurated the CIPF.

The opening ceremony brought together over 1,000 participants, including heads of WIPO departments; principals responsible for departments of the CNIPA, Liaoning Province and Dalian Municipality; officials from Wuxi City, intellectual property authorities across provinces and regions; representatives of foreign embassies and consulates in China, international organizations, universities, research institutes, industry associations, enterprises; and media journalists.

This year's CIPF was hosted by the CNIPA, organized by the Dalian Municipal People's Government, and co-organized by the Intellectual Property Publishing House Co., Ltd. The fair featured nine exhibition zones, including the WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention Exhibition Zone, Patent Commercialization and Utilization Exhibition Zone, and International Exhibition Zone.
