Shen Changyu Holds Bilateral Talks with JPO Commissioner Ono Yota

On May 27, during the 18th IP5 Heads of Office Meeting, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), held bilateral talks with Ono Yota, Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO).

Shen noted that JPO is an important partner of CNIPA. Over the years, CNIPA and JPO have maintained a close and productive cooperative relationship, achieving significant results in multiple areas of intellectual property (IP). Looking ahead, CNIPA looks forward to working together with JPO to further strengthen communication and continuously advance China-Japan IP cooperation to deeper levels.

Ono praised China's equal treatment and protection of foreign enterprises including Japanese companies in the IP field. He expressed hope that the two sides would continue to expand the scope of cooperation, enhance its level, and achieve even more fruitful outcomes.

During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on a range of topics such as the latest developments in both work, cooperation progress in emerging technologies and artificial intelligence, the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) collaboration, and further exchanges between patent examiners.
