Shen Changyu Holds Bilateral Talks with WIPO Director General Daren TangRecently, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), held bilateral talks with Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including the latest developments in the field of intellectual property (IP) and enhanced cooperation on Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs). Shen noted that the Chinese government attaches great importance to IP. President Xi Jinping has repeatedly issued important instructions on the matter, and this year's government work report has also outlined a series of key initiatives on IP. CNIPA is currently studying and formulating the national plan for protection and utilization of IP during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), with a view to strengthening top-level design for the development of China's IP sector over the next five years. Looking ahead, CNIPA will continue to actively participate in global IP governance under the framework of WIPO and looks forward to achieving more practical outcomes through bilateral cooperation. Tang commended China's remarkable achievements in IP in recent years, noting that China has set a strong example for global IP development. In particular, China has consistently ranked among the world's top filers of international patent applications filed through WIPO's Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), design filings under the Hague System, and international trademark applications filed under the Madrid System, underscoring the country's strong innovation vitality. WIPO stands ready to pursue more fruitful cooperation with China in promoting IP for development, improving IP protection systems in emerging fields, and strengthening multilateral collaboration under the WIPO framework. CNIPA Deputy Commissioner Zhang Zhicheng and WIPO Deputy Director General Wang Binying also attended the meeting.(Source from CNIPA Website) |
